San Antonio City Clerk
Julian once again marches to battle with a group of about 50 supporters up the stairs of City Hall to file for the Office of Mayor. Packed into an elevator the smell of votes alike, a crowd surrounded the young candidate to escort him to the county clerk office to sign documents and sign over a check !
But wait! All the supporters who signed a petition to support him for a mayoral candidate were thrown to the side by the City Clerk…Why? Only city politics knows. Actually the signatures are on-file, but I was surprised to hear the City Clerk say… they won’t or don’t need to check the signatures since they got the check!?!?
All the hours spent by volunteers getting signatures for the candidate settled on the ink of an endorsed check . Seems that some parts of city elections are based on money and not signatures for a candidate to run for office.
In the end, many potential voters, supporters, union guys and gals are marching on with Julian over the next 75 plus days to enter the Kingdom of Mayorhood.
My question is. When do we get the free tamales, Big Red, (the blood of our people) and Lone Star for the signatures? Perhaps that may all depend on who wins… Castro, Deberry “Mejia” or Cibrian.
That’s my point of view, what’s yours.
