Wow! Do I have organic egg on my face and I’m not talking about the Internet product. Earlier I referred to Julian Castro, Diane Cibrian and Trish DeBerry-Mejia as the Three Amigos (TA) because all seemed to be taking the high road in the just-started mayoral campaign.
Guess what? Such is not the case. I happened on DeBerry-Mejia’s Web Page and the question upper most in my mind, “Does this woman quote anything good about anyone?” While her blog is cut&paste from published articles, you have to wonder if those aren’t her thoughts.
On boundary issues she lashed out at opponent Cibrian asking if the Dist. 8 was a consensus builder or a strong arm advocate. According to her blog, in her two years on the San Antonio Cibrian has established a reputation for wanting to be involved in every aspect of the municipal government process. It goes on to state, a central area of contention has been Cibrian’s approach to zoning cases. While some applicants and neighborhood groups commend her for taking an active role in resolving zoning issues, others argue that she’s been overly intrusive on the front-end of the process, before the Zoning Commission even gets a chance to hear a case.
Castro’s shortcomings, according to her blog, he learned his lesson in his loss to Mayor Phil and tells the ever powerful North Side business leaders. In other words, he’s playing the CYA card to get their support.
Wait a minute. This is Trish DeBerry of Guerra, DeBerry, Coody fame. Of course she’s added the name Mejia and we can no longer tie her to the agency that helped craft a number of ads for
W in his first and second campaigns. Can you recall if any of those ads ever painted Bush as a Compassionate Conservative? Also keep in mind, the man behind those ads is on her campaign, Lionel Sosa.
Hey, I don’t feel so bad.
